Completing an Episode of Care (EOC)
Guide to managing an Episode of Care (EOC), including linking certificates, RTW plans, and recording costs.
Completing an Episode of Care (EOC)
An Episode of Care (EOC) is used for the ongoing management of an injury after the initial 'Injury Report' is lodged, particularly for cases involving medical treatment or compensation claims. Create an EOC from the 'Injury Report' form.
Key Sections and Processes in an EOC:
- Details: Assign a Case Manager and record any relevant Case Number.
- Liability: Document the Liability Decision (e.g., Pending, Accepted, Declined), Claim Lodged Date, and Claim Number.
- Certificates:
- To add a medical certificate, select 'Create Certificate'.
- Complete the certificate details (date, type, medical practitioner information) on the 'Certificates' form.
- Attach a scan of the certificate and submit the 'Certificates' form.
- Return to Work Program:
- Select 'New RTW' to create a Return to Work plan.
- Detail the plan on the 'Return To Work' form (duration, fitness for work, program details, hours, key people).
- Attach relevant documents and submit the 'Return To Work' form.
- You can also link specific categorized attachments to the RTW Program section of the EOC using the 'Attachment' form. (See 'Managing Injury Report Attachments').
- Costs:
- Record an Estimated Cost for the claim directly on the EOC if known.
- To log specific expenses, select 'Add Cost'. On the 'Costs' form:
- Enter Invoice Date, Invoice from, Invoice Number, and Cost amount.
- Provide Invoice details for clarity.
- Attach a copy of the invoice and submit the 'Costs' form. Create a new 'Costs' record for each distinct expense.
- Case Notes: Use this section to log ongoing communications and updates related to the EOC.
- Attachments (EOC Level): Add general attachments relevant to the overall EOC. (See 'Adding Attachments' in General Features).
EOC Workflow
The EOC has its own workflow (e.g., 'Open', 'Closed'). Use the available workflow buttons to update the EOC status as it progresses. Always 'Save' or 'Submit' your changes.
