Walkthroughs Module Overview

Understand the purpose of the Walkthroughs module and how it helps in conducting and documenting Safety Walks.

Introduction to Walkthroughs

The Walkthroughs module is designed to help you proactively monitor and improve safety in your workplace. By conducting documented, location-based Safety Walks, you can:

  • Observe and record work practices and conditions.
  • Identify and commend safe behaviours, reinforcing positive safety culture.
  • Identify and discuss unsafe acts or conditions, enabling corrective action.
  • Facilitate engagement with employees on safety matters.
  • Track the completion and findings of Safety Walks.

Key Components

  • Walks Form: This is the main record for documenting a Safety Walk. It captures details such as the location, date, observer, number of people observed and contacted, a summary of findings (safe actions commended, unsafe acts discussed), and any follow-up actions.
  • Observation Form: Used to log specific positive or negative behaviours or conditions observed during a Walk. These individual observations can be linked to the main Walk record, providing detailed evidence for the summary findings.
  • Key Behaviours (Supporting Data): The system may utilize a list of "Key Behaviours." These are predefined safety-related behaviours or focus areas (e.g., "Correct use of PPE," "Maintaining clear walkways") that can be referenced or selected when conducting a Walk. This helps standardize observations and focus on specific safety initiatives. These are typically managed by administrators.

General Process

  1. Initiate a Safety Walk: Start by creating a new "Walks" record.
  2. Conduct the Walk & Observe: As you walk through the designated area, observe work activities and conditions.
  3. Record Observations: Use the "Observation" form to log specific instances of safe or unsafe behaviour/conditions, or record these details directly within the main "Walks" form.
  4. Summarize Findings: In the "Walks" record, summarize the key positive observations and any unsafe acts that were discussed.
  5. Assign Corrective Actions: If any issues require follow-up, create or link "Actions" directly from the "Walks" record to ensure they are tracked to completion.
  6. Submit: Finalize and submit the "Walks" record.

Mobile Accessibility

The Walkthroughs module, including the main "Walks" form and the ability to reference "Key Behaviours," is typically available on the mobile application. This allows for convenient on-site recording of Safety Walks.
